The name “Tarimano” is derived from Te Taringa ā Mano, symbolizing unity and community.  The ancestral house Tawakeheimoa, proudly stands on Tarimano, flanked by two wives: Te Aongahoro, and Te Aouru.

Tarimano Marae is a popular venue that has hosted numerous wananga, meetings, celebrations, and other significant events. With modern facilities and a welcoming atmosphere, it provides the perfect setting for memorable gatherings.

Situated in a picturesque location, Tarimano Marae sits adjacent to the Te Awahou stream that flows into Rotorua Lake. Only a short distance from Ngongotaha township, manuhiri will have easy access to local cafes, petrol stations, and the only walking track up to the summit of Mt Ngongotaha.   Additionally, a brief 10km drive grants access to Rotorua CBD, offering a variety of events, sporting amenities, cultural attractions, and tourist sites.
